Light & Variation is a growing series of photographs that continue Karen Zalamea’s inquiry into photographic perception and material engagement. By using an assortment of ephemera and lighting sources, she constructs temporary assemblages for the camera’s vision. Her concerns are largely invested in analogue photographic practices, in the unhurried nature of large-format photography, and in the direct relationship between lens, light, and subject.
